Veneers & Lumineers

Cosmetic dentistry is exciting in that there are multiple ways to approach a problem. In certain circumstances, the most suitable form of treatment is the dental veneer. Thin shells custom designed to enhance the smile perfectly, veneers may be fabricated from materials like composite resin, acrylic, or porcelain. Flexible in terms of options, a single veneer may be placed to cover a crack or chip, or several veneers may be applied to create a new and improved smile that looks like it has always been there.

Dental veneers are commonly used today and they are consistently gaining popularity for their ability to create naturally beautiful smiles.

Some of the issues corrected with this cosmetic treatment include:

  • Worn or stained enamel
  • Gaps or spaces between teeth
  • Teeth that are set back
  • Teeth that are set back from others
  • Chipped, cracked, and damaged teeth
  • Uneven or crooked teeth
  • Oddly-shaped teeth
  • Teeth that are too short, too wide, too narrow, or too long

The veneer process is quick and convenient, taking only a few appointments. We begin by assessing the smile and discussing which material is most suitable. The tooth or teeth to be treated are then reduced very slightly to allow room for the veneer to sit flush at the gum line. An impression is then made and sent to the laboratory for the fabrication of customized veneers in the chosen material. Each veneer is designed to perfectly match surrounding teeth, or enhance the patient's aesthetics based on overall complexion.

Within approximately ten days, completed veneers are ready to be applied. The tooth or teeth are prepared by gently roughing the surface, and veneers are placed and assessed for fit and form. Once perfected, each veneer is cemented into place.

We also offer LUMINEERS, which are ultra-thin shells that do everything traditional veneers do, but without the preparation or level of commitment seen with that process. LUMINEERS are only .2mm thick, and can be placed onto teeth with just a bit of etching. Because there is no major reduction of tooth structure, this type of dental veneer can be removed if so desired.
